I'm going to Galveston.
God blessed me.

:-)

InOtherNews:

I've been thinking about what I'm going to do after high school. I'm going to be a senior pretty soon, so I suppose it's about time to think about it.
I spoke with my painting teacher on Monday about the school her granddaughter is going to (whom is one of my friends also).
She's going to the Hallmark Institute of Photography in Massachusetts. Obviously, it's a school strictly for photography.
This is like... my dream, to say the least.

Unfortunately, it's in Massachusetts, where it's expensive to live.. plus the tuition in $60,000.
But, it's an 11 month school.. not four year, so I'd be done pretty quick and won't even have to deal with taking all those English classes and such in college. Heck, SAT scores don't even matter, which is a bonus because I already know I'm going to suck at SATs.
I would have to wait a year after graduation to go(possibly even two) to save the money with a full time job. After talking to my teacher and looking at the website, the money that is spent on the year attending the school will be easily earned back in sales the next year, which is pretty kick-butt if you ask me. The training in fantastic, which included photoshop, lighting, and running your own business. Not only that, but the tuition comes with a camera.. the best one being made at the time, which alone is a several thousand dollar value.

*drool*

Man, would I love to go there. So many pros and cons though...
This is something to pray about.

Compilation Update:

.
I love How God can restore anybody from anything.
I made an effort to write down the verses I've been reading and what I'm learning from them. It helps me remember what I read about 3 days ago rather than forgetting by the next morning. Plus, the sermon on Wednesday night fit exactly to what I read the night before in Romans 6, and today's Sunday school lesson fit exactly to what I studied about three months ago in 1 Corinthians 13. Staying in the word has given me more strength lately, and I praise God for that. I'm also thankful for how much God has been confirming things to me through scripture and the church.
It's exciting.
I must say, though, that there are still a lot of uncertainties floating around right now which can be scary sometimes. I just hope I don't get discouraged.

--------------------------------

School started on Wednesday. Considering I did most of my core classes last semester, this semester is going to be significantly lighter. Two are wholly spiritual growth classes(which I love very much already), and another is painting. That leaves Government and World History, which are only tough if I don't put any time into them.
I'm thankful for my load this semester.. at least, so far.

-------------------------------

My family went out to take pictures today. I had a use up a current role of film before Tuesday, so my mom suggested going somewhere pretty. She decided on the Great Wolf Lodge. I'd never been before, but it turned out to be fairly nice. Looks like an insanely fun place to stay, but not a whole lot of really good pictures ideas came to mind. I filled up a role and half though, so nothing really to complain about.
oh!
and my parents have been talking to me lately and they've decided that they're going to save up to get me a nicer camera. I'll probably look around to find some deals within $500 or so.
It might be a while, considering our income is slow, but I certainly appreciate the change of mind on their part. :-)
In the mean time, my dad might help me build a website and my mom's looking to help me find an internship with a local photographer. I'm not sure how that will go, considering that takes a little more time and "experience". I may end up having to find any job right now, regardless of what it is, just because I need a better income, especially considering my expenses this spring.
I don't know.. I guess I'll see what happens.

--------------------------------

Prayers would be appreciated(in any area)

Ohh! One more thing!!
Happy three month, Kason!
Ahaha
:-D

First post of the year!

.

Sorry it took me so long to update. I kinda sorta forgot to! :-O
By bad...

So it's a new year, eh? Time for "starting over" and trying to succeed at New Year's Resolutions that truly never will be succeeded.I've read several people's blogs about 2008 and it's pros and cons, and their goals for 2009. I found it kind of interesting so I'll write one here.

Best and Worst!

Worst:
- Struggling endlessly with writing and English classes. Painfully failed poetry with a D, and didn't do well on my first essay of the fall semester.
- Faced issues with close friends that brought me down with their problems
- Managed to break or strongly disable two cameras
- Had many fights with the fam.
- Had a close friend rushed to the hospital.. same night I was in a fight with the fam.
- Had serious emotional problems during Mission New Orleans. (Came through eventually, but some days were off)
- Had my prom date drop out on me
- Had 3 1/2 weeks of SAT classes during the summer, which only decreased my score.
- Got a horrible sunburn at Six Flags in San Antonio on August 1st.. which can still be seen to this day.
- Struggled with the possibility that my family would move overseas.
- Broke one of my original new years resolutions.
- Fell into rotten temptation. Did a lot of stuff I'm not proud of.
- Was lied to by someone for awhile, which also made me lie to myself. Big whole mess.Long story. Physically and emotionally beat up many times.
- Lost some friends
- Still didn't get a job yet.
- And last, the constant struggle of overwhelming fear.

Best:
- I got the chance to go on THREE mission trips.. New Orleans, Mexico, and San Antonio.. where I was a chaperon for middle schoolers. I also revisited my 8th grade mission trip VBS site.
- Witnessed lives get saved and adoration to God being expressed through song in 2 different languages in unison(very cool).
- Two of my cousins started coming to church with me right after new years of 08. Both either became Christians or recommitted their lives to Christ, and both were baptized.
- Three of my cousin's friends visited church one day too. All three gave their lives to Christ.
- Met The Wedding live at our church for d-now, and found out our band leader was joining them. :-O
- Visited FBC Watauga for d-now also. Awesomest sermons ever...very life changing. Found those same sermon recordings on youtube last week. I freaked.
- Turned 16. Didn't get my license for 8 more months, but I got in eventually!
- Met a buttload of new people. Lots of new friends.
- Watched the youth group at Glenview grow as youth ministers came and left. The body of believers stayed strong, and I saw God move in us.
- Realized more and more God's faithfulness, especially in time of need. God healed my heart, and still continues to do so.
- God provided friends and family that are an utter blessing to me and my relationship with Him.
- God used each burden and trouble in my heart and turned it around so I could become stronger. He showed me His endless glory.
- God brought me back home after I strayed. I came back broken and dirty, but I was made new again.
- I overcame my fear of talking to people about my problems or emotions. I opened an over
-packed bottle of secrets, anger, sadness, and even joy. I was set free! I let nothing stay held back.
- This holiday season has been the best in forever. Family is closer together, and moments are cherished rather than physical gifts.
- Pursued art and photography a little bit more as I try a lot of new things.
- God blessed me with Kason, my first real relationship. It's mind blowing to be with someone who acknowledges my flaws and bruises and stays patient with me as I continue to heal, and even helps me grow closer to Christ through my struggles instead of pull me away.
- and last, God has simply blown me away with an amazing year. It had it's immeasurably tough times, but what God did and how He showed himself to me every single day surpassed everything that could have possibly made the year a tragedy.

It's pretty clear that every negative thing that happened was eventually overcome by God and his glory. Times got tough and faith was lost, but it was always restored one way or another, if it's not in the restoration process right now. I'm thankful for such a blessed year full of steps and learning. I couldn't have gone without it.

Now, goals for 2009.....
- Get a job. Pay for what I need to and start saving for.. college?
- Succeed farther in arts in photography. Painting and photography classes this semester.. very excited.
- Somehow, someway, get a professional digital camera. I think that's the one material thing I want with a passion. Hah.
- Restart an unspoken resolution from last year.. and actually succeed(this is important, very very important!).
- Grow stronger in my daily walk with God. Become more resistant to temptations.
- Spend more time with God and strive daily for a better understanding of the Word.
- Become a stronger leader. Do harder things and make bigger sacrifices for God's kingdom.
- Make better grades! Starting senior year in the fall.. lets not get D's anymore!
- Grow more confident in myself, seeing as how I have very little.
- Grow even more closer to family.
- And last, just be able to take every situation in my life, big or small, good or bad, and use it to understand God more, bring Him glory, and change my lifestyle for the better.

Yep.
I may add on later as I remember more.

Randomosity Update

.
Finals week! *scream!*

Due tomorrow:
Brit Lit - Finish essay. Done.
World History - Short quiz - Not done yet, but should only take a few minutes. I take home a final, which I assume I mail back by the end of the week.
Electing the President. - NO homework. Praise Jesus. But, I think there's a pop quiz in class tomorrow. My mom told me the secret..*shh*. I'm not worried. It's a silly quiz, because I have a silly teacher. :-P
Government - Turn in final exam and final report. I've done the final, but not the report. I'm doomed to bomb the report, because it's supposed to be written about a council meeting I had to look up and attend. I didn't know this until recently, so obviously I never got the chance to go to one.. Who knows what'll happen with that.
Painting - no homework, obviously. I'll frame my current two paintings in class tomorrow for the end of semester program on Thursday night. Yay!
Kickboxing - gotta write a fitness assessment report for the whole semester. Shouldn't be too hard. She's not grading grammar and such. It's just filling up at least two pages with words for a final grade.
Goodyyy. :-)
Bowling - Finish final exam and turn in Saturday morning. Not too hard.

Other than school, I'm doing alright. I'm kind of in a dilemma with a friend whom I think is trying to avoid having any contact with me whatsoever, which disappoints me to no end, but I've done all I can do.
But, if by some insanely crazy chance you're reading this and you're that particular friend(you'll know who you are), than just know that I'm not going back on my word. I've never lied to you, and I won't break a promise now. I'm still open for friendship, if you just open the door and stop hiding. Otherwise just tell me the truth so I know.

*sigh*
I need patience.
But, I must consider the benefits....

I was thinking last night about the current situation, and God kinda showed me something I don't normally ponder about...
I'm trying to restore a friendship I lost. I've done all I can. I never lied. I stayed true to my word, but that person chooses to block me out completely for selfish reasons. I'm hurt by it, I'll be honest. I've spoken as much as I can, but I get no response. All I can do is wait for that person to realize his/her actions. I'm willing to do all I can to restore this, but at this point, it's all up to a response.
Likewise...
God's always been faithful to me. He's loved me unceasingly, and never fails his promise. However sometimes I'll go my own way and do my own thing, and subconsciously block out God completely. I don't talk to him, and I don't respond when he speaks. I get lost in my own life and desires and lose sight of Him. God is undoubtedly saddened that I turn away, and as much as He may try to get my attention back and initiate a relationship, I have to respond, but I'm too caught up in myself to care. Ultimately, I'm shunning my relationship with God and putting the one thing that is most valuable to me on the back burner. Does that please God? Does that help me grow? of course not..
Now, I'm not trying to compare myself to God, and I'm not at all saying that my friend must be friends with me in return in order to succeed in life, however I am saying that God used this situation to speak to me about my faults.
I don't always struggle with this in such extremes as to block out God completely, but it does speak to me about the small things, such as faithfulness, prayer, and my relationship with God. Without all those things, I am pointless. I am nothing. God is the only one that gives me life and joy and sometimes I loose what makes me alive by indulging in my own concerns and desires.

Hmm...
I love how God can speak to me like that.
It just proves His faithfulness more, eh?
Yesss

I'm gunna change.

That's life.

---
I registered for classes at TCC a few days ago. I'm taking Computers and Photography in the spring.
I'm excited for photography, understandably. ;)
Although, I need to get a hold of a film camera, so if you know where I can get a good one for a reasonable price, than let me know! Pleasee!
---
Yesterday was week 11 of sonlight. No Sonlight next week for thanksgiving, than the following week is the last day. So really, only two more weeks until the end of school! Yess
I was up until 4:30 on Tuesday night finishing homework. I had to write an essay for Brit Lit, finish four pages for World History, study for a final in Electing the Pres., finish one page for Government, and organize and decorate a notebook.
Turns out, only two students actually turned in their essay rough drafts yesterday, me included. Other students told me just the outline was due. Ohh man...
But no, the rough draft was due. The whole class just misunderstood the assignment.
Hah, yayy. I'm ahead.
So, fortunately, I don't have a whole lot of homework to do this week(two weeks, actually). I feel at ease. Ahhh... yess
---
A sonlight mom mistook me for Michelle yesterday. She commented on how much I look like her now.
Hmm, it must have been the glasses. I was wearing them at the end of school...
---
I put up my little Christmas tree in my bedroom on Sunday night, with Kason's help. I also watched The Polar Express with him from my computer screen(my dad was using the living room tv at the time.)
I'm SO excited for the holidays!
---
I applied for four more jobs on Tuesday night.
-Portrait studio at Walmart. I've tried them before. They don't seem too interested in me.
-Portrait studio at Target. Michelle called home and told my mom that they were hiring right now near my house. My mom forwarded me the message, and I was gone within half an hour. I spoke with the manager(I think) and he seemed to be interested. I guess we'll see what happens.
-Pier 1 Imports. Very not interested in this job, but that's ok.
-Starbucks. I'll have to call them sometime this week because the manger wasn't in when I dropped off my application. *shrug*
---
Kason, Kiersten, and Lauren suggested I visit them at school for lunch one day.
I decided to go today.
As soon as I got there, a security guard drove up in his mighty little golf cart and told me I was in the wrong place, and going to wrong way on a one-way street.
"oh, I'm sorry.."
I find a parking space on the other side of the school.
I manage to find my way to the entrance without any trouble. I ran into Kayli right inside the door. She was surprised to see me.. she didn't seem very excited. hah
I go to the office and ask for a visitor tag.
"Are you a parent or guardian"
"..uh..no"
"Are you from the church?"
"The church??"
"Are you a church counselor?"
"No, not here"
"Ok, well we don't allow visitors unless you're a parent, guardian, or church counselor"
"Ohh.. ok.."
Grrrr
Fortunately, Kason passed by just as I left the office area.
So I did get to see him for about.. two minutes. hah.
.
But that was an utter disappointment. Blehh
Not only that, but that security guard in a go kart kept asking me questions!
"Where are you going ma'am?"
"My car.."
"Why are you leaving?"
"They don't allow visitors here."
"Ohh...
well why are you parked way over here?"
"There was a space here"
"Well the visitor parking is on the other side. You're not supposed to park here"
"Oh... ok.. thank you(*note sarcasm*)"
.
.
*sigh*
Dang Richland.

Praise Jesus

My Brit Lit class is dreadful.

I finished reading A Tale of Two Cities a few weeks ago. I turned in my essay a few weeks ago, getting a miserable grade. I made corrections, and turned it back in(as did all the other students), and still got a miserable grade. Unfortunately, most of the other students in my class have more writing experience than me, so I was significantly horrible.
But praise Jesus, I have an merciful understanding teacher. In class, she's rather scary, I'm not going to lie, but she spoke with me after school today and explained why my grade wasn't higher, than after some understanding on both of our part, she bumped my grade up from a 69 to an 80 just for the my effort and mistakes understood.
I don't know, but this is amazing to me.

I don't deserve this.

Small Photo Blog

.
My driver's license came in the mail this morning. My mom and sisters told me I had a really good license photo.
I suppose that's good.
:-)
(Look! My smile even sparkled... *wink*)

Also today, my family(except my dad) went to the state fair. We didn't make it there until about 6:00 this evening. All my pictures were taken in the dark, so they are a little bit blurry.

Urm... yeah

Oh!! I just remembered...
Painting class at Sonlight is phenomenal. We finally finished out first painting of the semester. It was paint-by-video, which was a little interesting, but fun nonetheless.
Keep in mind, it was done in a total of 4 hours or less, and it was my first painting.. ever, so it certainly could've been better.

The end.

Oct 13, 2008

Quick Update:

1. I got my license last Monday, after having a stinkin permit a year and a half.
I'm pleased now.

2. After getting a license, I went and applied for a job at PartyCity, because it's fun and walking distance from my house.... this works better for lack of cars. ;)
Unfortunately, it's been a week since then, and they told me they'd look over applications over the weekend.. and nothing's come up.
Eh, oh well.

3. School is going surprisingly well, but I'm seriously not liking my Brit Lit class, and I'm having a hard time reading novels and writing essays about them(because I'm just not a reader, or a writer) so please pray that I can get that done and get a decent grade, pleasse!?

4. Praise Jesus, family is getting better. I was able to talk to my mom last week about some of the stuff going on in my life. A lot of things were cleared up, and she may now be a bit more helpful and supportive.
This excites me!

5. Michelle's visiting this weekend. Going to State fair on Thursday. Michelle's artwork is displayed there, too. Go look. Now.

That's all for now. Hopefully I'll post again soon.

Evacuee Needs

.
As a posted a while back, FBC Watauge(my current Sonlight building) was listed as an evacuee shelter for the hurricanes. Since last week, 44 people have showed up at the church, and are in need to help and/or company. Sonlight may not be held this Wednesday.

My mom is at the church now and she told me there are about 10 children and about the same amount of teenagers in need of assistance or entertainement. Boredom is apparently a big problem now.
I've also been told that they need blankets, pillows, shampoo, canned goods, money for laundry, and transportation for laundry. My mom is helping transport people now. I will probably be going to the church pretty soon to help out with kids and teens.

As a lovely reader of mine, I ask that you pray for the evacuees. My mom told me it'd be a great ministry opportunity.
Also, if you'd like to come and volunteer to help out, please do. Everyone is welc0me.

Sep 3, 2008

Ow...

.
I can feel the physical stress of kickboxing now.

Ahhh
and I have another class tomorrow.

joy.

On a brighter note:
Apparently I can leg press 390, which is actually lower than the majority of the class, but still, that's a lot for a flimsy girl who hasn't exercised in four years.

*Gleee!*

Sep 2, 2008

Sonlight

.
No evacuees showed up at FBC Watauga, so Sonlight is starting tomorrow.

I can believe I never even posted what classes I'm taking! How sinful of me...
However, I never could remember my schedule. My mom chose my classes and all I knew was that there were four stinkin' hard classes and one painting class, so I just went with it.

But, here I am, the night before, finally figuring out my class schedule.
So, here ya go.

1st hour: British Literature. Apparently, this class is only a half-credit, which explains why I crammed in another half semester of Bob Jones Brit Lit in these past three weeks at home. Woohoo, one full credit of Brit Lit!
2nd hour: World History. I'm not really sure what to expect with this class. I've already done the homework for the first two chapters, and for the most part, it's not too hard and relatively interesting to a degree, but I must keep it mind, it is only the first week...
3rd hour: Electing the President. Weird name, but it's basically learning more about politics and the presidential election while it's happening. Michelle took this class fours years ago. I think it will be intriguing..
4th hour: Government. Holly took this class last semester. If anything, I'm really not looking forward to this class...
5th hour: Acrylic Painting. I haven't gotten into painting much, but I've certainly been interested. I think I'll love this class. :-)

Other than Sonlight, I'm taking Kickboxing and Bowling at TCC for duel credit.

My mom and I planned out this year's schedule in order to get most of my high school credits done before senior year, if not before spring semester of junior year(this year). If I do, I'll only have to take two or three core classes my senior year so I can focus on SAT scores, yearbook at Sonlight(because they've been asking for me for two years), and photography at TCC(which I might actually take next semester, but I'm not sure yet).

All I can say is pray that I can pass all my classes! My mom wasn't pleased with my grades from last year, so I really got step up my game.

Sep 1, 2008

Well, dang

.
I went to Grapevine Lake for Labor Day.
I got a sunburn.
Again.
Same place as last month.

*sigh*

InOtherNews:

First Baptist Watauga, the church hosting my Sonlight homeschool group, in opening a New Orleans Evacuee shelter. If people actually come tomorrow, than the first day of Sonlight is going to be postponed a week, instead of this coming Wednesday.
My mom and I agree it would be lovely to have it postponed.
I guess we'll know by tomorrow afternoon, seeing as how tomorrow is Tuesday...

Aug 24, 2008

Update, again.

.
Babysitting went alright this week, for the most part. It was only a week long job, plus a few more days in the next few months, but the pay certainly does help with large funds next year.
:-)

School is starting a week from Wednesday. I'm still not even sure what classes I'm taking. My mom chose them for me, and I never asked what they are. Hm..

I've been driving more lately, so I can get my license. It's been going well, though I got rear-ended today in Holly's car. *shrug*.
No worries though, it's all good now. :-)

I am officially starting a "Professional camera fund" for photography classes next semester, yearbook next year, and to practice photography for a potential career(because, you know, I wanna be a photographer).
My goal is $7-800. It's going to take a while, so feel free to donate! :-)

Jul 2, 2008

Yay

.
I passed the Accuplacer with freakin' FLYING COLORS!!

...Except for the College Algebra section... but everyone bombs at that, so it's ok.

:-)

Accuplacer Test

.
I took the Accuplacer at TCC on Monday afternoon.
I only passed the writing...
(Yay.. but.. not good enough.)

I have to retake the math and reading sections in the morning, so please pray for me! or else, if I fail again, I'll have to take it again, and I'll have to pay the fee myself. *shrug*

May 30, 2008

Brilliant...

.
I have to pull an all-nighter to finish writing a bunch of poems.
Because guess what! I got a freaking D in my poetry class because I forgot to turn in my final project. My mom's grounding me until I write and turn in more work to raise my grade... for a class that ended a month ago.

I could scream right now.

I'm unsure of how much sleep I'll get tonight.
Gotta be up by 6 a.m. though.

Blarghh...

It would be so incredibly easy to give up right now.

Venting venting venting....... Arghh....

Sorry.

Update:

It's 3:23.
I've now written a Haiku and Sonnet.

Making progress.
Slowly... but surely

Four more to go...

May 10, 2008

Questions to ponder...

Do you express your faith and reflect Christ so much that unbelievers can't help but wonder if God really exists?
Does God's love shine in your life so much that unbelievers can't help but see that Jesus willingly sacrificed His own life so we could live eternally?
Does your attitude reflect the hope and gift that you have, as a child of God?

You claim you believe in God.
You claim to be saved.
You claim that God is your first priority.
Why fear?
Why anger?
Why sadness? Guilt? Stress? Jealousy?
Why are those still a huge part of your life?
It's GOD, for pete's sake!
Can't you understand that He is so much bigger than that?
Fear was diminished when God promised He would always be there.
Anger was turned to forgiveness when Jesus forgave our sins, even when we didn't deserve it. Sadness was turned to joy when a hope and future were given to us the moment we were born again.
Guilt was wiped away when forgiveness took it's place.
Stress was eased when Christ healed our hearts. Why hold on to it?
Jealousy shouldn't even be a part of our life, because nothing is better than Christ. If you have Christ, why be jealous that you don't have something else?
Is Christ not enough??

Wouldn't it be so cool if the whole world turned to Christ?
Wouldn't it be so amazing if everyone saw the hope that Jesus offers?
Wouldn't it be awesome if everyone was so moved by Christ that all of a sudden nothing else mattered. Nobody else mattered. Problems were not problems anymore. Worldly pleasures were not sought after anymore. Money was not an object anymore. Religion didn't exist.
It would just be Christ, and His church(body of believers).
It would just be a true love relationship between you and the Father.

Wouldn't that be amazing?
If only Christians did their job...

These questions are not my own.
These are God's.
I'm just a voice.

~Katie

Done!

Sonlight is over.
Half of my high school career is overrr.
:-D

End of semester program was this evening. My ballroom dancing class performed a demo to show what all we've learned this year. Robert and I did the 40's Charleston, tandem, and a floor sweep. After practicing the darn thing about 30 times, my hip, knee, and elbow were thoroughly bruised. *shrug*
Nonetheless, I did it (almost) perfectly for the audience. :-D
Some of the other "couples" did the Shag, Swing/Pretzel, Lindy Hop, and a few others, as well as the group line dance "Smiley Charleston".

Maybe I'll post pictures later...

Mar 31, 2008

Update:

.
Mission New Orleans was great. I have to say it was very different than last year(but not in a bad way). I learned a lot throughout the week, most of which didn't have anything to do with New Orleans. But God spoke to me through it, nonetheless.

Some of the things that God brought to my attention were relating to how I take things too seriously and put others people and things higher than God. I've spoke with a lot of people who thought about this same thing during New Orleans too.
But anyways, this is something I've struggled with my whole life(being a sinner and all), but jealousy and worthlessness became more of an issue about two years ago, and it's never ceased to get me down every now and then. I've always known that it's a problem. I've always known that my lifestyle needs to change and my priorities straightened out. I've tried to give the situation to God many many times but something always holds me back. I know that I rely on my friends too much, because I know that if I don't always get encouragement from the right people at the right time than I'm going to be a little disappointed. I'm going to be honest with you, I'm a selfish person when it comes to that. I don't like to admit it, but I know I am, and I know that needs to change. God needs to be my first priority. Not only that, but I want to have joy in putting Him first!
That's mainly what God spoke to me a lot about in New Orleans, and I'm sure darn glad I was there to hear it.

God didn't stop speaking to me when New Orleans was over. For the past few days I've been thinking about my lifestyle. Are my actions and decisions in line with what God wants? Well, I don't know, but it seems like some of the decisions I've made about my future don't feel right.
God may be telling me to change my "plans", or even change my desires. To be honest, I haven't made much plans about my future, but there are plenty of things that I really want and hope to see happen, which maybe I shouldn't even be thinking about or putting much effort into.
I'm still talking to God about this though..
Maybe I'll update on this later.

InOtherNews:

I lost my prom escort.
But it's alright. Kelsey's my date now.
I just gotta teach her how to dance the Thriller.

Pray for me.
Pray for my relationship with God, my decisions, my relationships with other people, and school.
School isn't going well right now.
My mom's threatening to put me in a traditional school if I don't get more A's.

Homeschool life

.
I just remembered that I never informed you about my new Sonlight classes!
Oh by darn, that's terrible!

First day of Sonlight is tomorrow. Surprisingly, it's 10:13 p.m. Tuesday night, and I have everything done and ready. I'm hoping to be in bed at a "decent" hour tonight... or at least before 1:00...

1st hour: Swing Dancing.
Yes.. Swing dancing. I think it's going to be great, especially considering prom is coming up, and I nearly forgot all the steps that I learned before last year's prom. *shrug* Not only do I have a swing dancing class at Sonlight, but I also have one on Monday nights at Creative Arts for the next 2 weeks. :-D

2nd hour: Poetry
Basically, I suck at writing poetry. I don't know how well this is going to go. Fortunately, my teacher for this class is friendly. :-D

3rd hour: Research paper:
I've had a research paper class before. I don't like writing research papers, but it certainly could be worse. At least it's not deathly boring like most other writing classes... hopefully.

4th hour: Mapping the World by Heart*(Part 2)
For those of you who don't know what that is, it's drawing all the continents of the world on a grid map by memory, plus the details (such as mountains, capitols, deserts, country borders, bays, rivers, etc).
It's really challenging to get everything on the right coordinate, but overall it's a fun class. I've got the entire western hemisphere drawn so far. This semester is focused on everything else, including the inking and coloring. :-D
I'll post pictures of it once the school year is over.
(*this class is credited as a Geography class, not art. As much as it feels like an art class, it's based on studying each country and its culture and origin.)

5th hour: Spanish 2(part 2).
That pretty much explains itself.

It doesn't seem like a very big load, but it'll probably get harder after the first or second week(as it usually does). Pray for me this semester! I'd really like to work hard and be able to finish homework at the right time each week(as apposed to Tuesday nights). I need to get a job this semester too, which requires extra work and self discipline, seeing as how my parents are going to take on three jobs again, which leaves Holly and I to get everything done ourselves.

Many people have asking me, in confusion, "You homeschool yourself?!"
Yes, I do homeschool myself. Aside from classes once a week, I'm basically on my own. Some other teens tell me that they wish they could do that, because they could sleep in, eat whatever they want, and do their homework on their own time. I always reply with the same answer, "No, I don't sleep in. No, I don't eat whatever I want, I eat whatever I have(which is leftovers from who knows how long ago.. or a sandwich). And no, I have to have everything done before my parents get home from work, yet I have to work a minimum of eight hours. If I don't meet my mom's requirements, then I'm in trouble. Unless you have easygoing, well-paid parents, than you would have the same situation"

Anyways, I'd appreciate prayers very much, mainly for strength and diligence(and good grades!) throughout the semester.
